Breast Asymmetry

A woman's breast can differ both in size and / or shape. A slight difference is common among most women. Breast size and / or shape discrepancy can be marked in some women. The nipples can also be uneven.

Tuberous breast is a developmental breast deformity that may result in asymmetry. The breasts are shaped like tubes with a very narrow base and a long skin envelope.

Patients with asymmetrical breasts can be very self-conscious in clothing and when undressed. This can have a huge impact on their social life and in relationships.

Most of the breast asymmetries including tuberous breasts can be corrected by cosmetic surgery resulting in a more rounded and pleasing shaped breast.

There is a number of surgical procedures depending on the degree of asymmetry and the patient's own desires. The possible operations include breast expanders; breast enlargement, breast reduction and breast uplift. Please refer to the relevant sections for more details.
